I strongly believe that giving back to the planet and the community should be part of every business plan. Along with steps I take to run a
green business, here are some of the latest projects and efforts I'm involved in:
New Directions 2010 Jazz Brunch
Hosted by Katey Sagal, the 2010 Jazz Brunch rasied money for women veterans, through
New Directions. A unique sterling silver and amethyst bracelet, valued at $95, went to their silent auction. Los Angeles has the largest population of homeless veterans, and New Directions provides services to thousands, including outpatient services, treatment and housing.
Larchmont Charter School 2010 Fundraiser
Based in West Hollywood, Larchmont Charter School caters to a highly diverse K-2 student body. It is one of the top ten highest performing elementary schools in the LA district. A unique sterling silver and green onyx necklace, valued at $160, went to their 2010 Fiesta fundraiser silent auction. The Event was hosted by the Lopez Tonight Show.
St Paul Mothers of Multiples
Providing support and advice for women with twins, triplets and more, St Paul Mothers of Multiples hosted speakers and parenting experts to present to approximately 350 mothers. Giftbag stuffers and earrings valued at $60 were donated for their silent auction.
Child's Play 2009
Valued at $550 the
Sterling Silver Ringed Chain Maille Collar was included in the silent auction at the
Child's Play 2009 annual charity dinner. Child's Play was started in 2003 by the writers of
Penny Arcade to raise money to buy toys and games for hospitalized children. Child's Play contributes to hospitals all over the world and rasied $1, 780, 870 last year alone.
Wild Care 2008/2009
A portion of every sale made through elena-adams.com in 2008 and 2009 went to
Wild Care Bay Area. Based in Marin, this wonderful organization is committed to wildlife rehabilitation and helps educate the public on how to live peacefully with our furry neighbors.
NARSAD Collaborative Art Project 2009
Based on the concept of painting with beads, I asked artists of all varieties to submit their work to be inspiration for a necklace. The design process was recorded on the
blog and once complete, the necklace was auctioned with all proceeds going to NARSAD, the National Alliance for Research on Scizophrenia and Depression.
