Announcing: Winner of the Collaborative Project
Jul 5th, 2009 by admin
Recently, I asked for entries into a unique kind of competition to raise awareness and money for NARSAD, The National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression. I received so many entriesĀ and it’s great to see people get passionate about good causes. I have finally picked a winner!
This photograph is by the very talented, fine art photographer, Melissa Mercier. Based in Vancouver, Melissa is inspired by clean lines and minimalism, and this image was influenced by the idea of water in its dormant state. She loves capturing objects that make her viewers look at them in a new way. Her work is a favorite among hotels across America and Canada.
I love the simplicity of this photo; the flat blue water being cut by the wooden pier is somehow so peaceful. The unusual composition is really memorable too, and I know I’m going to have a lot of fun turning this piece in jewelry. More of Melissa’s photos can be seen here.
Thank you so much to everyone who entered. I’ll be releasing my design notes as I make this jewelry so be sure to sign up to the blog RSS feed or join the newsletter.
Once completed the jewelry will be auctioned with proceeds going to NARSAD, and I’ll announce the dates here and in the newsletter once I get closer to completing the work. If you need a reminder you can sign up for the newsletter by entering your email address here:
