| « Creating: Charity Jewelry Project Part 4 | Wearing Jewelry in Summer » |
I'm feeling a little stuck on the design. I now have most of the base chain done. Not all the beads are on, because I still may modify the overall shape. I have some ideas for attaching the silver plate to the chain discretely: I think I can punch some holes and overlap the two components, weaving them together with fine wire.
No idea if that will work until I try it.
My problem right now comes down to the overall shape of the necklace. The front part has such sharp lines that I'm having trouble visualizing it as anything other than a pendant, and I'm worried about it looking too industrial.
I'm considering making it asymmetric, with the chain continuing out from one end and the other meeting it at 90 degrees. The narrower chain will curve since it doesn't have a lot of bulk, making it work fine for the chain part of the necklace. I tried to connect another length perpendicular to the main weave, but had no luck in securing it neatly.
I'll need to have another try at that. This may end being a project that gets completed, then reworked once or twice to make it come together properly. I've also run out of rings, so have to wait on more supplies before I can get moving again. Perhaps I'll try the silver join next - focus on a mechanical challenge and wait until inspiration strikes on the rest of the design.
