Creating: Charity Jewelry Project Part 6

I think I’m done!
I’m going to start photographing and spend some time looking at it. It’s one of those projects that’s gone on long enough that I’m never entirely sure it’s done.
I’ve made quite a few changes to what I had initially thought I would. I’ve stripped it down a lot, which I think it more in keeping with the inspiring image. I’m pretty sure I was over thinking the process and adding things that didn’t need to be added.
- The beads are gone- they were just adding bulk, without contributing to the look.
- I couldn’t attach the extra strip of silver to the chain section – weaving in that plane just didn’t work without looking sloppy.
- I decided not to oxidize it – I spent a long time experimenting with oxidizing agents to find something that would give a blue effect, but had little luck. I consider just darkening, but after giving the finished piece a good polish in the tumbler, I really liked the high, reflective shine of the silver, which reminded me a lot of water.
Photos to follow. I estimate the auction dates for September 1st – 7th. I’ll confirm that once I get the pictures together.
