It's a while since I gave you a post about the website development, so I though I'd give you a little update. It's an ongoing thing of course, and there can always be improvements. I'm lucky enough to be on a relatively stable server that rarely goes down, and I've kept the structure of the site simple by design, so that there's very little that can go wrong, and everything can be adjusted or fixed at any time with a small amount of effort.

I've been thinking about Search Optimization again lately, and I've finally come to terms with the fact that it's time I updated my description tags in my code. For those of you not familiar with them, this is a little piece of text hidden on every page that's supposed to summarize what's on it.

Search engines give very little weight to descriptions when it comes to ranking, but it often shows up in the short summary when the page comes in as a result somewhere like Google or Bing. Automated bookmarking sites can also depend on it, and up until now I've left all of them the same: something generic like a description of the whole site.

This month I'm slowly going through and updating every single page with information relevant to the content. It's a slow and arduous process, which of course is reminding me that I really should have done this from the start of the website creation, but hind sight is always 20/20.
