Feeling like your accessories need a refresher? Try these tips to breathe new life into necklaces, bracelets and earrings.
Try Your Necklaces as Chunky, Multi-Strand Bracelets
Choose necklaces with lobster clasps and extender chains for easier latching. Wear your new "bracelet" a little loose to avoid tight bunching where the strands cross over to clasp, and stick to sturdier designs.
Avoid knotted necklaces, as you risk over-stretching the silk, and select wire and chain combos for ultra-texture. Dangling beads will add fantastic movement and charms are lots of fun.
Double Up For New Length
Do you have a matching necklace and bracelet set? Clasp them into one long piece for a whole new look. Long, layered necklaces are really hot right now, so pair them with other chains and necklaces of varied lengths. If you can't find a matching bracelet, choose one that's plain in design and make sure it lays across the back of your neck where hair will cover it. If you're wearing multiple necklaces, it will blend right in.
Wrap Bracelets and Necklaces Around Pony Tails and Buns
Choose a chain that is very flexible and won't get snagged in hair. After putting your hair up in a strong band, hook one end of the bracelet under the band then coil it over as many times as it will go. Secure by hooking the clasp back onto the chain, or tuck a large section under the hair band. Be sure not to coil too tightly to avoid damaging its natural shape. Now you can add glitz to any outfit!
Create New Pendants Out of Lost Earrings
Losing an earring is just terrible, and making a match is almost impossible. Get use out of old earrings by stringing a decorative hoop or leverbacks onto silver chain, or ask your local jewelry repair shop to add a secure loop or bail in place of ear hooks. You could even have them converted into pins for jackets and bags.
