Turquoise is the Color for 2010

Every summer, the whole world gets excited about the color of turquoise, and this year, Pantone has announced that it expects it to be the hot color for 2010.

It's always fresh and pairs perfectly with both silver and gold, and works to brighten up almost any color palette.

In fine jewelry, untreated turquoise is extremely rare, and most is color treated or reconstituted. As with most fine wares, the more you pay, the better the stone's quality will be.

Turquoise is an excellent healer, which provides solace for the spirit and well-being for the body. It is highly protective, and has been used since very ancient times. It was traditionally said to change color as a sign of infidelity. It can enhance intuition and meditation when placed on the third eye, and is effective in purifying. Turquoise is also useful for exhaustion, depression and panic attacks.

From Pantone's press release:

"Whether envisioned as a tranquil ocean surrounding a tropical island or a protective stone warding off evil spirits, Turquoise is a color that most people respond to positively. It is universally flattering, has appeal for men and women, and translates easily to fashion and interiors."

Expect a lot more turquoise jewelry this spring as I get into this hot trend.
