Greetings!
I'm thrilled to announce that I have finished the necklace for the collaborative charity project, that will be auctioned with proceeds going to NARSAD, The National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression.
The necklace is completely comprised of sterling silver and took about
ten hours to create. The necklace was created based on a photograph
submitted by Melissa Mercier,
a great photographer from Vancouver who submitted her work as part of a
collaborative project to raise awareness for schizophrenia and
depression research.

The bulk of the necklace is chain maille in European 6-1
weave, with a finished length of 19", which can be customized by the
successful bidder. A 3/4" width piece of chain maille hangs at the
center with hinged joints to the main necklace.

Below that is a 1/2" plate of sterling silver, with a high shine to
resemble to the water in the photograph. The silver plate is mounted
deeply behind the chain to give a seamless impression. The necklace is
finished with a large sterling silver hook clasp, built into the weave
of the chain maille.

The back of the necklace is lightly burnished.

The auction will begin August 31st at 9am pacific time. Bidding will
close September 6th. Final times will be confirmed as soon as possible. The auction will be held at Ebay. If you do not have an Ebay account
and would still like to place a bid, submit a silent auction before
August 31st, by emailing me at elena@elena-adams.com. If anyone
bids beyond your maximum, I will email you to let you know.
Bidding will begin at $120 to cover the cost of materials. I am donating 100% of my time.
I hope this event is a huge success. With a family history of
depression, and friends affected by far too many mental illnesses, this
is a cause I feel very strongly about supporting. The only way we can
make this work is if you will help me spread the word. Help by forwarding this email, tweeting or facebooking.
I also know that
not everyone has the cash to purchase luxury items, even if it is for a
good cause. If you would still like to help, you can donate any amount
by clicking the button below. Your gift will be added to the final
total to be sent to NARSAD.
