A passion for the ancient craft of chain maille

About the Designer

San Francisco East Bay-based artist, Elena Adams has been making jewelry for over twenty years. Using the traditional art of chain maille she uses fine materials to update and elevate it. In love with the look of chain and the amazing patterns that can be produced from nothing but simple rings of metal, she makes every piece by hand, adding natural semiprecious gemstones in a variety of styles. Each piece is a unique and intricate piece of art, often taking hours to complete.

She has taken classes from some of the best metal and chain teachers in the Bay Area, and has had the privilege to teach chain making classes and jewelry photography classes. Elena has created and been commissioned to create a number of educational materials, videos and instructional guides, and has collaborated with and photographed for some of the Bay's premier jewelry retailers and designers. Elena grew up in Australia but makes her home in California with her partner, two children and a menagerie of pets.
